Yes as they are to perform reflex actions according, for eg if u don't feel pain you won't remove your hand from a hot object ultimately damaging the cells

people who feel pain are likely to be stronger then the ones who don't. A wise man had said what does not kill us makes us stronger so those who feel pain have experienced it and can help others fight against and also they themselves can fight if the face it again
