no we can't say that cold war era brought destruction to the world , it was just a political rivalry between two superpowers US and USSR it was a war between two ideologies it didn't brought destruction there was a logic of deterrence everytime it feels like the war was going to start deterrence implies the existence of two parties , the objective of deterrence is to stop the deterre from taking actions against the interest of deterrer it divided the world into two parts but didn't brought any destruction.
