Yes pollution affect the formation of rainbow as well as twinkling of stars. Before we hamper out details we need to know what causes these natural phenomena . Refraction of light or bending of light leads to the formation of rainbow and even twinkling of stars. You can imagine our Earth's atmosphere as a big lens and the light coming from the stars bend and undergo through various temperatures and densities of the atmosphere. Hence, they appear to twinkle. Same in the case of rainbow. If the twinkling of stars or rainbow appears dimmer this means there is something wrong with the atmosphere it may be polluted .
I do agree with the fact that pollution free environment will strengthen these natural phenomena especially in metro cities. There is a need for pollution free environment for our own safety and also to see these wonderful phenomena.
