"Do you think that resources are free gifts of nature as is assumed by many ? They are not. Resources are a function of human activities." Can't understand the meaning of the third line and its relation with the first to lines . Please explain.

The third line means ->Resourses are used by humans for their own needs. In the third line the word function means a relation where 1 thing is dependent on another for its existence value or significance.
therefore all these lines mean tht resources are not free gifts of nature. We should nt take it for granted as their existence depends on d way we use it. If we r nt careful while using them, they might get extinct.
