Do you think that subsistence farming is a wasteful method. Why?

Subsistence Farming: It has two definitions.

• Definition 1 : A farming technique in which the goods produced is utilized by the family of the farmer without any surplus for commercial use.
• Definition 2 : Farming or a system of farming that produces a minimum and inadequate returns to the farmer.

Subsistence farming is not wasteful considering,

• Subsistence (SF) and semi-subsistence farming (SSF) plays an important role as a safety net in rural areas.
• The poor agricultural household needs are met.
• Poverty is assessed based on the extend of the agriculture undertaken.
