Yes the title is absolutely apt. The whole play is centered around Antonio. Moreover the plot proceeds because of the loan he takes from Shylock. He is the base of the bond plot. Also he is a well known and renowned merchant. If it wasn't for Antonio the play would not have progressed in its plot. Hence the merchant of Venice has an ideal title.

Yes.The title of the story'THE MERCHANT Of VENICE' is appropriate because it is more in depth about the protagonist Antonio and his rivalry with Shylock.While Bassinio,Lorenzo and Graccanio's love stories make the story amusing,it is actually Antonio's court case which brings elements like suspense,twists and humour to the story.The story is also mostly about Antonio helping his friends.HENCE IT IS APPROPRIATE.
