yes, I too think that the continents are drifting away from each other because the tectonic plate theory states that the tectonic plates are continuously moving which also resulted in the drifting of Gondwana land many years ago and the same action is going on now also. the second reason is that as the continents are drifting away small lakes are forming in between........
