Yes, this is desirable Bcoz it is a huge vegetable, which cannot be grown on a tree.
Also, creeping is helpful in faster growth of pumpkin...

Hi there,

Yes, The creeping habit of a pumpkin is desirable and also very beneficial for a huge fruit like itself.

The reason is that Pumpkin is huge fruit. Unlike small fruits such as banana,  orange guava and etc, Pumpkin requires a lot of energy, space and nutrient to grow. If it were a climbing plant, it large weight would rip the plant its branches apart and probably would not even get enough sunlight and nutrients during to shadowing branches. When it is creeping, it can lay flat on the surface which allows them to absorb as much nutrients as they want and do not even come in the way of the other lot. This allows for it to grow better and fully
