answer : the author fails miserable about the dollar this his friend on him he says that he will carry the left of it to his Grave however he also mention that the one lost dollar will not make a difference to their friendship

He also gave Todd many hints and clue so that he could remember the dollar but being not an understandable man , Todd did not came to know that all the hints and clues was for him and so that he could remember that yes he had old him a dollar . This all shows that the narrator was not justified in being upset because if he was justify then he would not take so many risk or he would not make any situation so that Todd could remember the dollar
