In a single word answer is “No”. The time when permision given to East India company (EIC) and the time when EIC consolidated her Indian possessions to rule have the period of 150 years. And domestically a lot changed during this period.
When EIC first landed in India, it was the global hub for textile and portugese were already in business with India. Mughals like any other rulers favoured trade due to taxes they received from traders. They were more than strong than the petty british traders if there had been any coup. So in no way they could see any british advancement under their empire unless there was some oracle from the blue.
EIC too did not capture India in one blow. Neither they came with that intention nor they waged sudden war against India with the royal forces. They meant to trade. It was a very slow process of rise of british with parallel decline of Indian powers. They took almost 150 years after the death in Aurangjeb in 1707. Last Indian imperial house i.e. Sikhs were beaten in 1848.
It was more the internal fragile politics that paved the way for british traders. India was a prized jewel but unguarded. Her guards were myopic and were busy in fighting among themselves. They were orthodox . Who never see towards the world.
The fate of India unfortunately had become to be taken by any superior power. And the reconnaissance and technological invetions made the british superior for any take over. So they captured India.
