No, the poet does not say this at all. Whatever he says is connected with life and activities that can be made better. he only says that we should stop our activities for a few moments and have quite introspection. It will help us to restart our activities in a better and purposeful manner.

Hey !!

Pablo Neruda does not advocate total inactivity and death. He makes it very clear that stillness should not be confused and compared to total inactivity. Because he says total inactivity brings death.

             He only wishes that man should withdraw himself from undesirable actions and learn to keep still as this will give him time for introspection.
