Because, the potter had bought a tiger to his home instead of his own donkey. He drank palm wine and went to an unconscious mood. so he behaved as a brave man towards the tiger.

I think the potter is really lucky not brave because he was drunk and thought that it was his donkey and tied the tiger , as villagers thought the potter was brave and courage and this propaganda was reached to king and then the king appointed him as chief solider as the potter couldnt deny the king's proposal as solider , so he asked this wife to tie with the horse, hence the horse went outoff control and potter has catched the tree due to force of horse the tree came up with its roots and the enemy thought he was soo powerful so the war stopped and opposition give up
