No, the punishment to Shylock is fair as because,he always stays very concerned about his money and ducats and also works on usury and even he says so that his ducats r more worthier than his own child Jessica,so because of his poor behavior with everyone only because he is wealthy cannot be accepted. so that's why he should be punished like this only.
