His First Flight

Explanation:

The above excerpt is from the story “His First Flight” by “Liam O' Flaherty.” This story is about a young seagull who is afraid to fly. His whole family tries to coach and coax him to fly, and also threaten him. The siblings exhibit their flying skills while the parents scold and threaten to leave him behind. But the seagull couldn't muster the courage to try. The mother bird tempted him by to the edge of his ledge by showing a piece of fish. The young bird dived forward to get that piece and fell into space. When in mid-air, he spread his wings to save himself and finally discovered the art of flying. The family of birds loved the young one dearly as this is what every parent does, teach their young to face the world.

Answer:

The young seagull had two brothers and a sister. His parents flew with them to leave him alone on the ledge as he could not muster up the courage to fly with them. His parents could have fed him. ... So, the attitude the seagull family showed to him was actually their love, care and concern for him.
