may be the another pilot in the story is false image of the pilot himself.....
bcoz it was imposible to see outside and the writer described that he had seen the pilot's face and when he waved his hand he followed him....
may be it's mystery..

yes we can say that the story the black aeroplane is a mystery one
as when the pilot was on the trouble he saw the black aeroplane which was helping him to overcome his problems
and when the pilot reached the floor safely the black aeroplane was missed and when he asked there so they told that there was no aeroplane flying over the sky in the aane route
