The tiny hole near the top of Gavaskar’s left earlobe proved lucky for him. As a baby he had been swapped inadvertently with a fisherman’s baby. Gavaskar’s Nan-kaka had seen the hole the previous day. Next day when he came to the hospital he was shocked to see a different baby lying in his crib. Other cribs were searched and finally Gavaskar was recognized by Nan-kaka.
If Nan-kaka had failed to notice this hole the swap would never have been noticed. Gavaskar might have grown up to become a fisherman instead of a legend in cricket.
