Yes, the use of the maps has changed from ancient times to now.

The world map made by the Greeks was actually made to establish trading routes in the sea, whereas, the modern maps are used for a number of purposes. Map made by the Greeks was based on an illustration in several of the earliest remaining records. The modern maps include every aspect of the world such as geographical, political boundaries, density, roads, sea routes, air routes etc. The main difference between both the maps lies in the fact that the old maps had some limitations in lack of proper technology, whereas, the modern map involves advanced technology which accurately defines coastlines and other important boundaries.
