Whenever a person is acting emotionally the irrational mood swings and emotional expressions can be traced to the parent or child ego states of the person as defined in PAC model of transactional analysis.
Also gender affects how we perceive, understand and express our emotions. Women tend to be more sensitive about the emotional states and express them more. So they are kind of more ate the verge of feeling stressed during perturbed moods and emotions.
