The Father and Son did not share a cordial relationship with each other. They lived like strangers under the same roof.

• In the poem Father to Son by  Elizabeth Jennings, the poet describes the estranged relationship of the father and his son.
• The poet emphasises upon the fact that though the two live under the same roof they behave as if they are aliens to each other.
• In my opinion they suffer from an acute crisis of generation gap.
• The thinking process of the two generations make them strangers to each other in spite of their biological relationship.
• This is not only confined to the Father and Son in the poem but it a Universal issue.
• There is no cordial relationship between the father and son any where in the world as the father who belongs to the previous generation does not update himself and change himself with time.
• This results in his not agreeing with the view point of his son and makes him a stranger to him.
