Yes, Wars do serve a purpose but that depends on the conditions at time. For example, there have been many wars for revolution, freedom, rights etc.

History has been proof that the wars ultimately have a purpose. Like 1st world War, which helped in rise of revolution in Russia or the Civil War which brought whole America together as A Country or Indian revolution and many more!
