The point of a game is to enjoy and be entertained by it. Once the entertainment is taken out, it is no longer a game, and more of a sport (unless the game is specifically designed to be competitive, such as Fortnite, Football, or Soccer).
So while a little competition is never bad, winning should not be the main focus when playing a game. (Unless, of course, that is the point of the game or the reason you are playing it.)
