Dobereiners law and newland law of octave according to 0th
Answers
dobereiner's trends:
when the elements were written in order of increasing atomic masses, the atomic masses of the middle was the average of atomic masses of other two elements
limitations:
only three traits were recognised from the elements known at that time
atomic masses of an element is the relative mass of its atomic
Newlands law of octaves:
he arranged the elements based on increasing atomic masses
when elements are arranged he found that every 8th element had properties similar to that of 1st element
same as Indian musical notes
SA. RE. GA. MA. PA. THA NE. SA.
{first note (SA) is similar to 8th note(SA)}
ex: properties of sodium and lithium are same
limitations:
applicable only upto calcium
properties of new elements could not fit on it
in some cases, properties of the elements were not same as he defined
(ex: Fe was placed far away from Co &Ni)
worked well only with lighter elements
