National Doctors’ Day is celebrated on 1st July. It is marked for the birth & death anniversary of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy. Central Government established the annual remembrance of National Doctor’s Day in the Year; 1991. He was honourable Indian doctor and second Chief Minister of West Bengal. He played a crucial role in the Independence Movement.

Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy (1st July 1882 - 1st July 1962) was a well-known Physician. He participated in the civil-disobedience movement; later on, he joined Indian National Congress and got selected as Chief Minister of West Bengal. For his remarkable contribution to Indian Medical Facilities, He was awarded the Bharat Ratna award in the year 1961.
