let nth term of this AP is 78.

here, n should be natural number.

Now,

a = 4 and d = 3/2

we know nth term of AP is:

an = a + (n - 1)×d

78 = 4 + (n - 1)×3/2

=> n - 1 = 74×2/3 = 148/3

so, n = 148/3 + 1 = 151/3

it is not a natural number.

Hence, 78 do not lie in this AP.

Step-by-step explanation:

a=4

d=3/2

a+(n-1)d=78

4+(n-1)3/2=78

(n-1)3/2=78-4

n+1=74*2/3

n-1=148/3

n=148/3+1

n=151/3

Since, 151/3 is not a natural number.

therefore, 78 does not lie in the ap a=4, d=3/2.
