Does a cloth (solid) diffuses in water? when we put it in water, it gains water molecules. Please explain. If yes, then why is it given that solid diffuses slower?

yes cloth diffuses in water. liquid and solid undergoes diffusion as molecules has to move randomly . the rate of diffusion in solid is furely low because the particle in solid is are found together firmly and the particle simply vibrate about there fixed position because there kinetic energy is low
