Melting ice cube cools its surroundings because for ice to melt, it absorbs heat from the surrounding which causes the air around it to become cool.

Yes, the ice cube cools it surrounding. The ice cubes takes heat from surrounding to loose its particle. It takes heat from surrounding causing cooling in that particular area and that heat is transferred to ice resulting its melting.
