Does acceleration tell us about the direction of motion

Acceleration does not actually tells us the direction of motion even though it is a vector quantity. Eg. a block is pushed against a surface having some friction. It will come to a stop after some time T. Since here, the block experiences retardation that is for any time between 0 and T, the direction of acceleration is opposite to the direction of it's motion. Hence, we can not say that acceleration is a definite parameter to analyse the motion of an object at that instant. But it can be used to determine how and in which direction the body will move in future.
