Hello,

The two equations are

2y = x + 12 \\  - x + 2y = 12.....(1)  \times 2  \\  - 2x + 4y = 24\\  \\ 3y = 11 - 2x \\ 2x + 3y = 11.......(2)
Now,

Adding the two equations we get

 - 2x + 4y = 24 \\  \:  \:  \:  \: 2x + 3y = 11 \\  =  =  =  =  =  =  =  =  =  =  =  \\ 7y = 35 \\ y =  \frac{35}{7}  = 5

So,
Value of y is equal to 5

Putting in equation (2) to obtain x

2x + 3y = 11 \\ 2x = 11 - 3y \\ 2 x = 11 - 3 \times 5 = 11 - 15 \\ 2x = ( - 4) \\  \\ x =  \frac{( - 4)}{2}  = ( - 2)

Hope this will be helping you.....
