Leaching is defined as the washing away of the nutrients of soil by the rain water. For black soil there are some properties which prevented from leaching they are:
- Black soil has water retentioncapacity it can hold water for long time.

Generally where there is more rainfall, soil leaching takes place at it dissolve lime and calcium from soil into water which makes soil infertile. For ex.Mawsynaram records highest rainfall but it devoid the vegitation due to soil leaching. Black soil does not get leached because it is moisture retentive
