Answer:

Several blood groups can modify the innate immune response to infection.

Bacteria can stimulate antibodies against blood group antigens lincluding ABO.

"Meta-analyses showed that blood group A had a significantly higher risk for COVID-19 compared with non-A blood groups, whereas blood group O had a significantly lower risk for the infectious disease compared with non-O blood groups."Doctors at a Hong Kong hospital studied this phenomenon and reported that individuals who were blood group O appeared to be less susceptible to SARS-CoV than those who were group A, B or AB. Researchers showed that the virus could express antigens on its surface similar to those found in the ABH blood group. This led to the theory that group O individuals, which have both anti-A and anti-B antibodies, may have some protection against infection.

Persons with blood group O were less likely than those with other blood groups to become infected with V. cholerae ( cholera ) however, household contacts with blood group O were more likely to develop severe illness if infected with V. cholerae.
