It was found that over a fairly wide range of temperature and pressure, CO2 dissociates into carbon monoxide and oxygen with no precipitation of carbon. At each total pressure, above a certain critical temperature, the carbon monoxide disproportionates and the decomposition products are carbon oxygen.
