Death is not the end of the pain and suffering. It just passes it on to other people.

I have learned this lesson time and time again: through suicide attempts and the deaths of my close friends.

The person who died is hopefully no longer in pain or suffering. Hopefully they have found the peace they have searched for for so long.

The people they have left behind now feel some of the pain they felt. I know I have. I have felt empty, broken, and worthless since their passing. I did feel this way a bit before, but their death surely magnified it.

Answer:

Bone, tendon, and skin can survive as long as 8 to 12 hours. The brain, however, appears to accumulate ischemic injury faster than any other organ. Without special treatment after circulation is restarted, full recovery of the brain after more than 3 minutes of clinical death at normal body temperature is rare.
