In a given region, there may be people of different cultures, traditions, and beliefs.
Differences may arise between them and there might be conflicts because of these differences.
In such a situation in a non-democratic government, the powerful side will dominate the minority and dictate its terms to it.
This will lead to unhappiness and resentment in the minorities' section.
In a democratic government, all citizens have the right to express their views and beliefs and so, everyone can live in peace.
