Greetings to my dear classmates, teachers and respected principal. (modify it as per your need) I hope that all of you are doing well in this dire time od pandemic and you have my deepest gratitude for attending.
Today I 'm here to present my views on the most basic human right that is the right to live, during the pandemic and election of the largest democracy in the world.
As a child I was constantly being reminded of the greatness of my country and it's leaders who brought this county this far. Turns out my county is loosing it's breaths under it's own leaders .
As you all might already knew that our country was going though the second wave of COVID-19 because of the irresponsibilities that our leaders don't even bother addressing when Bengal state elections were announced.
And a presentation of poor leadership was presented before world. Thousands of people participated in rallies conducted by individual politicians without any preventive measures. And the thing is no politician paid any special attention on the safety measures. The result was a surge in COVID patients breaking new records.
Government teachers were forced to take part in election duty and they couldn't even refuse to it.
About 700 government teachers participating in election duty in UP panchayat election died of COVID -19. Let me present some case studies to show how dire the situation was:
- A COVID positive teacher who had informed the authorities of his condition was asked to be in the duty a day before elections.
- The relatives of few teachers who died of COVID 19 from 1st elections were called saying that they needed to attend another election duty.
People were dying and attention was given to elections. I hope you know what this means. In the largest democracy of the world which should be run by people is running with people paying prices with their lives.
Do leaders even care? Shouldn't lives per prioritized over elections? What's the point of an election when no human will be left to rule over. And the government still had audacity to hide data.
I pray for my country and I hope my generation will correct what wrong has been done.
