when light energy strikes solar cell electrons are knocked loose from the atoms in the semiconductor material,
if electrical conductors are attached to positive and negative sides , forming a circuit, the electrons can be captured in the form of electric current--- that is electricity

Explanation:

Our cells are specialized to conduct electrical currents. ... This is due to a slight imbalance between positive and negative ions inside and outside the cell. Cells can achieve this charge separation by allowing charged ions to flow in and out through the membrane.
