Does evaporation cause cooling? If yes, example why?

Explanation:if we put acetone on our hand it gets absorbed fast because it absorbs heat energy from our hand

Same happens with water. You might have heard people throwing water on terrace because when water gets evaporated it leaves cooling effect which low the temperature of floor by cooling effect
