Methane is a pure substance because it always has the same composition. However, it is not an element because it can be broken down into simpler substances (the elements carbon and hydrogen). The process of breaking down a compound into its elements is sometimes called decomposition.

Answer: In every mineral, the chemical formula of the compound of the metal remains the same. But different samples may differ with respect to the nature and amount of the impurities. These are the earthly impurities known as gangue or matrix. They may be either sand or some other materials in the form of rocks.
