That increases its internal energy. The temperature is a measure of the internal energy (kinetic energy of the molecules for an ideal gas). Thus, compression increases temperature.

Answer:

I know from Charles law that under constant pressure , the volume of a gas is directly proportional to its absolute temperature i.e. Thus accordingly during compression , temperature of gas would decrease.

hope you find it helpful :)
