Kerosene is a hydrocarbon obtained from the fractional distillation of coal tar at temperature about 150 and 275 °C. Since it is a hydrocarbon, it is considered as a non-polar solvent. Non-polar solvent can dissolve only the non polar compounds . Oils and fats are common examples of non-polar compounds. Therefore these are very good soluble in kerosene.
