Does nickel exhibit variable valency? If so ,what are the valencies it exhibits?

But generally in the questions we use +2 valency of Nickel because, valency of an element depends upon the highest energy level of 's' and 'p' shell.

For nickel it would be 4s2 so resulting +2 valency by giving both the s-electrons away
