Endocrine glands are those glands which pour their secretions directly into the body fluids so that their secretions reach to target organs since these glands are without ducts so also known as ductless glands.

For example hypothalamus, pituitary, thyroid gland etc.

Exocrine glands are those glands which release their secretions on the surface of body or an organ through ducts so these are also called duct glands .

For example salivary glands, gastric glands etc.

Heterocrine glands are the glands which act as both endocrine as well as exocrine glands .

For example pancreas and gonads.
