Does oxidation only happen with metals?

Oxidation can happen in BOTH non-metals and metals.

E.g...

(metal oxide) Metal:

Copper + Oxygen = Copper oxide (Cu+O = CuO)

(non-metal oxide) Non-metal:

Carbon + Oxygen = Carbon oxide (C+O = CO)
