Thumb rules state that if thumb of the right hand points along direction of current, then the remaining curled , fingers of same hand gives the direction of the magnetic field due to the current .

so on wrapping the hand around a current carrying wire with thumb will point in direction of current.

the lines cannot be seen in real life they are imaginary lines but if we put crushed iron powder near the magnet it will arrange itself in form of those lines. please see the attached image.
