Does the maximum charge given to a metallic sphere of radius R depend on whether it is hollow or solid? Give reason for your answer.

No. as charge is always resides on the surface of a metallic conductor, whether it is hollow or solid. Electric field inside the conductor is always zero. So according to Gauss’s law of electric induction

∯ E.ds= q/ε

now if E is zero inside conductor then charge inside should be zero also.
