Does the oxidation number of an element in any molecule or any polyatiomic ion represent the actual charge on it??
Don't copied it from google give me perfect answer

HEY buddy....

➖➖➖And that's probably not,,, oxidation no of an element just represent charge,, on it,, not actual charge of the element...

for instance. ,, take ex==>>

Hydrogen in HCL has H^{+} on it.....

while in case of compound like,,, NaH...i.e, SODIUM hydirde.. SODIUM carries +ve charge,, while HYDROGEN CARRY -VE charge.... hence it proves that oxidation no doesn't represent actual charge,, but partial charge...

and A note bro... in atoms like H2, O2,ETC oxidation no is always zero...
