does the ph level make an effect on making matirials disolve? (mainly m&m's). if not, what would make a difference for the matirial to degrade?

yes pH effect the metal to degrade

in acid it degrade more

to degrade metal we have to know about cortisone

it is

dry corrosion

wait corrosion

dry cortisone is due to gas ,air etc which attack on rough surface form cathode and anode .Like that they degrade its surface.By forming thin film oxide layer

wait corrosion -it is due to air ,water etc formation of anode and cathode

cathode form less oxygenated are and anode more oxygenated transfer of electron take place create potential difference .result formation of oxide thin film which we say degraded part
