The pH of saliva is 6.2 to 7.6. Saliva helps in moistening food and helps to create a bolus so the food can be swallowed easily. Other than this the saliva of our mouth partially digests the carbohydrates.

Answer:

saliva contains an enzyme called salivary amylase which helps to break down food. which only works in a ph of 6.5-7.If the ph is more acidic or basic it doesn't work
