The poem cold within signifiy the coldness of the hearts. In this poem the six humans being were full of heate, prejudice, selfishness and they were self centered. They did not give their logs to the dying fire their only hope of survival because they were full jealousy against each other. And at last they all die not because of cold outside but of cold within. Therefore the title is apt.
