Does the rainwater collected in the rainwater tank remain fresh?

no it do not remain fresh

Here is ur answer

The rainwater collected in tank doesn't remain fresh for a longer period of time. Contaminated water may leads to birth of mosquito or you might have seen the formation of algae due to still water. Thus it is not at all fresh.
