The scale of a measuring jar starts from 0


This is because we may need the jar to measure volumes that are less than 1



In fact, all scales usually begin from zero for the same reason.



If a scale begin at 1, it means that a measurement such as 0.5 can not be measured using that scale.



Another example is a rule. It has to begin at 0 so we can use it measure lengths that are les than 1 cm, eg. 0.5 cm, 0.7, cm, 0.3 cm, etc
